He is a World Championship medalist, having won the bronze at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. He is 1.85 metres (6 ft 1 in) tall and weighs 80 kilograms (176 lbs). His international career began with success at regional level: he won a silver medal in the triple jump at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games and a bronze medal at the 2008 Central American and Caribbean Championships.
